Eldrina Warria

My name is Eldrina Warria.

I am a Proud Torres Strait Island woman from the Islands of Masig and Moa in the Zenadth Kes Region. Growing up on both Islands, I’ve spent majority of my upbringing not only on country but also on sea country. My fond memories and experiences of being on the ocean whether it be diving with my family, fishing or reef walking when the tide was low has developed a strong sense of awareness and passion to take care of sea country.

From a very young age my family instilled a core value inside of me to look after both our land and sea and because of that, it has deeply resonated in my belief as an individual. In my younger years I’ve seen the successful results of marine life conservation on Great Keppel Island which have made me only eager to have that for our reefs in the Torres Strait. I’ve always been a volunteered especially in conservation projects run by our Local Rangers. Over the course of years, I’ve noticed a decline in our reefs health which strongly influenced my heartfelt concern and sparked an interest in Marine conservation.

Coral collective vision and passion in involving people of Ples by hands-on projects that contributes to the restoring and conserving of our reefs is a great opportunity for both our people and our Waters in the Torres Strait. I am hopeful in seeing that come into fruition that together as one people and one nation of Zenadth kes we can achieve a Marine life that will be a continuous splendour for all the ages to come.
